Lucy Shimidzu - Pianist

Lucy attended the Full Time Course for the Young Musician at Kingsway College, completing her LRAM and ARCM in piano performance, and subsequently studying with Craig Sheppard on the Advanced Solo Studies post graduate course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Lucy has given classical recitals as a soloist, duettist, band member and accompanist at the Royal Festival Hall, Purcell Room, Barbican, St James' Piccadilly and many other venues; toured with various dance, theatre, cabaret and comedy companies round the UK and Europe, including Second Stride, Extemporary Dance Theatre, Gateway to Freedom, The Performance Club, From Here to Maturity, and The Shout.

In addition to live performance, Lucy has recorded with The London Trio, The Lost Jockey (systems music band), who released two records, and a BBC Radio 3 broadcast; played in Channel 4 broadcast premier "Heaven Ablaze In His Breast" by Judith Weir; composed and recorded three radio commercials; and was choral director and pianist for US/UK TV film Helen Keller.

Lucy has a long-standing piano teaching practice, has run many workshops, music and movement groups for young children, taught piano evening classes for adults, and coaches and accompanies singers.
